Shop Policies and Procedures
I do my best to keep things simple, fair, and respectful—for both you and me.
These policies help set clear expectations so every instrument gets the time, care, and attention it deserves.
Respect & Communication
I expect all interactions to be respectful.
Disrespectful behavior, harassment, threats, or abusive communication will not be tolerated. I reserve the right to refuse service at my discretion, including but not limited to unsafe situations, unclear repair expectations, nonpayment, abusive behavior, or work that falls outside the scope of what I offer.
Appointments & Workflow
I work by appointment to make sure each instrument gets the attention it needs.
Repairs are generally completed in the order they’re received. If you need something expedited, I do offer a rush/priority service when possible, but it’s subject to availability and my discretion.
I’m generally available Tuesday through Saturday, 9 AM to 7 PM.
Because I work from home, I do have some flexibility outside those hours when needed—but the best way to find a time that works is to schedule through my calendar.
Book a consultation with me here.
That way I can make sure I’m available and give your guitar the attention it needs.
Estimates & Approval
Any quote or estimate is based on the condition of the instrument at the time of inspection.
Sometimes additional issues show up once work has started—hidden damage, failing parts, worn frets, stripped screws, brittle wiring, finish problems, or other surprises. If additional billable work is needed, I’ll contact you before moving forward unless we’ve already discussed and agreed on the possibility ahead of time.
Estimates are not guarantees unless specifically stated in writing.
Turnaround & Pickup
You’ll be notified when your guitar is ready for pickup.
- Full payment is due at pickup
- Instruments will not be released until payment is made in full
- Returned payments, chargebacks, or unpaid balances may result in additional fees or collection of the unpaid amount as allowed by law
- Instruments left more than 30 days after completion notice may be subject to reasonable storage fees
- Rhett’s Frets LLC may retain possession of unpaid or unclaimed instruments as allowed by law
- If an instrument remains unclaimed for an extended period, Rhett’s Frets LLC may pursue available remedies under applicable Tennessee law, including artisan’s lien procedures where applicable
Life happens. If something comes up, just communicate—I’m easy to work with.
Warranty — Setups
All setups include a 30-day adjustment period.
If something doesn’t feel right within that window under normal use and conditions, bring it back and I’ll make reasonable adjustments.
The setup warranty is void if the instrument has been adjusted, modified, or worked on by anyone else after leaving the shop, including changes to the truss rod, bridge, nut, saddles, tremolo, electronics, or other setup-related components.
Setup preferences are also subjective. String gauge, tuning, playing style, fret condition, neck angle, hardware condition, and the limitations of the instrument all affect what is possible. I’ll always do my best to get the instrument playing well, but some requests may require additional fretwork, nut work, repair, or parts replacement.
Customer-Supplied Parts
Customer-supplied parts are not warrantied by Rhett’s Frets LLC.
If a customer-supplied part is defective, incorrect, incomplete, incompatible, or does not fit properly, additional labor may be required and billed accordingly.
This includes pickups, pots, switches, tuners, bridges, nuts, saddles, jacks, preamps, wiring harnesses, and any other supplied components.
Vintage, Fragile, or Previously Repaired Instruments
Some instruments carry extra risk because of age, prior repairs, modifications, worn hardware, old glue joints, finish instability, brittle plastics, deteriorated wiring, or hidden structural problems.
I take great care with every instrument, but Rhett’s Frets LLC is not responsible for pre-existing issues, hidden damage, failing parts, brittle materials, finish checking, deteriorated wiring, loose braces, failing glue joints, stripped screws, or other problems caused by age, prior work, environmental exposure, or normal repair handling.
Vintage and older instruments are handled carefully, but they are still old instruments. Sometimes old stuff acts like old stuff. Beautiful, inspiring, historically important old stuff—but still old stuff.
Finish Disclaimer
Guitar finishes can be delicate and unpredictable, especially nitrocellulose lacquer, older finishes, refinished instruments, and instruments that have been exposed to heat, cold, humidity changes, stands, hangers, tape, cleaners, polishes, sweat, spilled beer, unknown chemicals etc.
I take reasonable precautions while instruments are in my care, but I cannot guarantee against finish checking, finish sinking, existing finish instability, finish reactions, lacquer checking, witness lines, or issues caused by prior finish work or unknown materials.
Post-Service Work & Responsibility
Any work performed on the instrument after it leaves the shop—whether by the owner or another technician—is the responsibility of the customer.
If additional repairs are needed due to adjustments, modifications, damage, altered setup work, or parts changes made after pickup, those will be treated as new work and billed accordingly.
General
Rhett’s Frets LLC reserves the right to refuse service at its discretion and to determine whether a repair is within the scope of the services offered.
These policies are meant to keep things fair, clear, and respectful. My goal is always to do good work, communicate honestly, and help you get the most out of your instrument.
