About me
Hello,
I’m Rhett and I’m the person behind Rhett’s Frets LLC. I grew up in rural Idaho, surrounded by quiet forests, rugged mountains, and wide-open farm land. Some of my best memories are from time spent at our family cabin, where I’d wander the woods, sit by the fire, often with a guitar in hand. The beauty of the landscape and the sounds of nature provided the perfect backdrop for the music that filled my life, thanks to the influence of my family and friends.
From an early age, I was drawn not just to the sound of guitars, but to the way they worked—the strings, the frets, the wood, and the pickups—all coming together to create something special. It wasn’t long before I started tinkering with guitars, adjusting setups, tweaking truss rods etc. While I tried my hand at many different hobbies growing up, guitar repair quickly became my true passion. I loved the challenge of making an instrument sound and feel its best, and the satisfaction of bringing a guitar back to life.
During my time at college in Rexburg, Idaho, I had the privilege of working at a small, local guitar shop called Mike’s Music from 2015 to 2019. It was there that I gained foundational skills as a guitar tech, taking on a wide variety of repairs. From routine setups to fretwork to eventually building solid body electric guitars, I gained invaluable hands-on experience and deepened my knowledge of all things guitar. My time at Mike’s Music laid the foundation for what would eventually become my own repair shop. In 2019, I took the leap and opened my own business, dedicated to providing quality guitar care and building lasting relationships with musicians.
In 2021, I moved from Southeast Idaho to Murfreesboro, TN, where I now live with my wife, Hasini, and our two dogs, Loki and Skye. While the mountains of Idaho will always be a part of me, I’ve come to love the vibrant music community here in Middle Tennessee. It’s a place where musicians and music lovers come together, and I’m grateful to be part of it.
For me, guitar repair is about more than just fixing an instrument—it’s about helping musicians get the most out of their guitars so they can focus on what they do best: make music. Whether it’s a beginner’s first guitar or a well-worn instrument that’s seen years of play, I treat every guitar with the same respect and care. My goal is always to make sure your instrument sounds and plays its best, so you can make music with confidence.
Thanks for taking the time to learn a bit about me. I look forward to working with you and helping your guitar reach its full potential.
